Veterinary Approval
All dogs must have veterinary consent before we can commence treatment, this is a NARCH requirement the association the centre is registered with.
This also ensures that we have a full medical background, that we are aware of any conditions present and your dog is suitable for Hydrotherapy as there are some conditions that aren’t suitable for Hydrotherapy.
Most vets are supportive of Hydrotherapy and we encourage you to discuss Hydrotherapy treatment with your Vet or Orthopaedic Surgeon.
A Consent Form along with a copy of our Terms and Conditions can be downloaded by clicking on the link below;
Please complete the Owner & Dog section of the consent form, sign the form and present to your referring Vet or Orthopaedic Surgeon for their completion and signature. Once the form has been returned to us we can make arrangements for an initial appointment and assessment.
Your Dogs Hydrotherapy Session
- Your Dog is given a warm shower before treatment to help warm up the joints and muscles, this will also acclimatise your dog to the water. They are then fitted with a float coat or harness before heading into the Under Water Treadmill.
- Our Hydrotherapist will be in the Treadmill with your dog throughout the session for support, to monitor their progress & to ensure optimum limb range of movement.
- We will provide support, motivation & encouragement to make the session as relaxing & as fun as possible for your dog. Our experienced team use caring, positive, motivational handling techniques & treats or toys are also used throughout the session.
- On the first appointment it is likely that your dog will only spend a short time in the water. Therapy will start slowly and progress each session depending on the dog’s condition and ability.
